For thirty years Rita has been a
teacher, teacher trainer, staff developer, Title VII Project Director, and
mentor for the NYC Bd of Education. She has been an adjunct professor in
most of New York City’s teaching colleges including Columbia University
Teachers College and Bank Street, CCNY and CUNY. She is Nationally Board
Certified and has sat on many boards including most recently, The Board of
Advisors at the American Museum of Natural History in NYC. Her teaching
practice has been the focus of many films, videos and periodicals. She has
worked with school systems throughout the United States, Puerto Rico and
Guatemala.

Alicia taught
elementary school in New York City from 2003 to 2005. For 7 years, Alicia
worked in school systems throughout the Northeast US, providing professional
development in early literacy instruction and installing needed classroom
libraries in urban schools. Prior to that, she was a bilingual Head Start
teacher in upper Manhattan. After 10 years of working in schools, Alicia
moved to Mexico where she hopes to continue to work with children in various
capacities.
